Experienced, grounded, committed to excellence.

Gunter Mead leads commercial construction projects with clarity, accountability, and hands-on oversight that helps clients move forward with confidence.

GUNTER MEAD

Built on Craftsmanship. Led by Hands-On Experience.

Gunter Mead was founded by builders who know the work firsthand, and that perspective still shapes every estimate, every decision, and every project we lead. We believe commercial construction works better when experienced leaders stay close to the work, and that belief has guided this company from the start.

TJ and David built Gunter Mead to offer something clients do not always get in this industry: honest estimates, clear communication, and leadership that stays actively involved throughout the life of the project.

ABOUT

Our Values

Quality

We believe good work should hold up, visually, structurally, and operationally. We hold ourselves and our trade partners to a high standard because details matter.

Communication

Clients should not have to guess what is happening on their project. We set expectations clearly, communicate early, and stay responsive as the work moves forward.

Accountability

We stay close to the work and take ownership of the outcome. If something needs attention, we address it directly and without delay.

GUNTER MEAD

Meet the Team

TJ Gunter

founding partner

T.J. Gunter’s career in construction began in the field. Learning the masonry trade from his father at a young age gave him builder’s perspective that continues to shape how Gunter Mead approaches estimating, problem solving, and project leadership. TJ attended Southern Polytechnic State University and earned his Bachelor of Science in Construction Management and Development in 2011.  After completing his degree, TJ spent over a decade as an Estimator and Project Manager with a regional commercial GC before co-founding Gunter Mead Construction in 2022.  TJ’s estimating and project management experience, along with his initial hands-on time working in the field, grants him a full picture of a project from the first bid to the final walkthrough.

David Mead

founding partner

David received his Bachelor of Science in Construction Management from Southern Polytechnic State University in 2008.  Upon graduation, David worked at one of the Southeast’s largest general contractors in both project management and estimating roles.  His experience helped develop a deep understanding of what it takes to keep complex projects on schedule, within budget, and moving efficiently from concept to completion. His ability to balance day-to-day operations with long-term planning helps ensure a seamless experience for both clients and project teams.

WHY GUNTER MEAD

We Stay Close to the Work. Every Step.

A successful project needs more than a schedule and a scope. It needs experienced leadership that stays involved, communicates clearly, and handles issues before they become setbacks. Every Gunter Mead project is guided by the same disciplined approach.

COMMUNITY

The Southeast is more than a market. It's home

Gunter Mead has grown alongside the businesses, institutions, and communities that make this region what it is. Some of our most meaningful work has been for clients who are deeply invested here too, which makes the work more personal and the responsibility even greater.

We believe how you build matters just as much as what you build. That means being a reliable partner, treating people with respect, and delivering work that strengthens the places where people gather, work, heal, and grow.

CAREERS

Build Something That Lasts, Including Your Career

Gunter Mead is growing, and we are looking for people who care about doing good work, communicating well, and taking real ownership of the outcome.

We value people who are dependable, skilled, thoughtful, and willing to stay engaged in the details. If that sounds like you, we would love to hear from you.

If you do not see a current opening that fits your background, reach out anyway. We are always interested in meeting people who take their craft seriously and want to be part of building something meaningful.
